Sisters are Forever//Atlanta Days

I know we've chatted a dozen times about My Great Love for my sister, over coffee, in the midst of this space.

There are several reasons for that, but we'll narrow it down to two today:

1. She's awesome (and I love her more than all the drops in all the oceans).

2. The width and breadth of our history is so rich and ripe with heartache (etccc.) that no one else in the world fully understands the layers of our past or how they've come together to form the people we are today. Let's just say "It's complicated" and keep it at that.

Though we lived together all through university and graduated on the same spring night, the following years have found us in many different (and often opposite) corners of the world.

People, this is hard for the heart.

From D.C. to Thailand, from Chicago, Texas, Hawaii and beyond we've seen each other as much as humanly possible through the years and of course it's still not enough.

Thankfully, the past couple of years, we've taken a long weekend together in Atlanta in July to celebrate her birth. Catherine's arrival all those years ago was the very best thing that could have happened to me, though as an usurped older sibling, I had little idea just how much I would need her through the ensuing years.

So party in Atlanta it is.

I'm grateful for my sister-for the hard conversations and the heart conversations. I'm thankful for someone who has seen me in a myriad of seasons, who loved me when I was unlovable and who believed in me far more than I ever believed in myself.

I'm grateful to know someone so incredibly generous, hilarious, kind, thoughtful, giving, witty, talented and brilliant.

Catherine Elizabeth-you are a wonder. I'm proud of you, I adore you, I'm so happy I get to call you MY sister.

Until we hug again.

xo.

Saturdays are for Sisters.

Okay, let's get one thing straight, every day is for sisters.

Sisters are The Best.

The

Very

Very

Very

Best.

For anyone who knows me on any level, the love I have for my sister is one of the most defining things about me. Like top in the 5 most important details you ever need to know about one LBGG.

We've always been closer than close, like Batman and Robin, Lennon and McCartney, peanut butter and chocolate.

Through the messiness and wonders of our lives, we've always had each other and it's been just right.

I was able to fly out to see her last weekend, for her birthday, for a much-needed catch up, for more sister memories.

It

was

perfection.

We talked, sweated (hellooooooo Atlanta), ate the most wonderful food (I dream of it still), had sweet hangs with her roomie Amanda and dog Caesar, saw Lord Huron in concert, went shopping and started on "Friends" season 1.

I also met The Iberian Pig which gets its own line because it was just that special.

The one thing I did not do was take many photos. I finally got out my camera on the last evening, so the following is quite a narrow look at our time.

But at least you get to see how pretty she is.

And while I'm on the note of her wonders, check out the cast and crew list for "Ant Man" for Catherine Greene. She's officially famous.

And (whilst I am more of the "anti-smoking" train than not), I do love a good clove cigarette. Since they used to be illegal in the states-don't be alarmed-my previous memories of a sweet indulge are staged in faraway exotic places like South Africa, Amsterdam or New Zealand.

Finding them in Atlanta was the icing on the proverbial cake.

Sisterrrrrrrrr, Cathern, Elizabeth, Catty G (aren't we glad we stopped that one ages ago), you're forever my fave.

I'm so proud of you and love you and a million more mushy things in between.

xoxo.

p.s. Would you be a doll and show Caesar my photo weekly so neither of you forget me? Thanks love.
