I met my friend Kate 5 years ago when she hosted me and my friends Anna and Will at her lovely home in Is-to-the-rael.
Kate is smart, generous, challenging, kind and thoughtful. Even though she has many other friends, colleagues and admirers, through the years Kate has pursued knowing me. She hasn't ceased sending me encouraging letters, emails and even a few overloaded care packages.
As I was squealing and opening this one (which contained a handwritten note, books, a CD, beautiful skirt and matching earrings/necklace), Jonathan asked "So what do you ever do nice for Kate?" to which I replied, "Ummmm, well...Nothing? She's just always really nice to me."
Oh gosh.
Kate-thank you for seeing me, championing me, challenging me and not giving up on me. You are amazing and your friendship means so much to me. You are a gift not just to me, but to the world. Thanks for all you give, say and do.
