“Give, but give until it hurts.” ― Mother Teresa

Our friends, Lindsay and Kevin are amazing artists and people. They have huge hearts for art, beauty and justice-and so many incredible ideas for what they are going to do with all of the above in this lifetime. I love dreaming with them!

They run a super cool kids t-shirt line they lovingly named Wazziwoo. They are forward thinking and we are excited to share their vision for how to give back this month. For details on how you can help fund an orphanage in April, read below!

On our lifestyle blog we will talk about photography here at home in Toronto, but we will advocate for the bigger issues of the world too. xo.

Wazziwoo is excited to announce a beautiful partnership with our dear friends at Touch the Nations!

For the month of April, 10% of all proceeds will go towards their newest initiative to build an orphanage for Ebola orphans in Sierra Leone.

We, at Wazziwoo, have BIG hearts for the littles of this world, especially those without an earthly mom and dad. So we are honored to play a small role in providing a home and family for these sweet ones who have lost so much.

Close to 4,000 children in Sierra Leone have lost one or both parents to Ebola. Thousands of kids are now orphaned with nowhere to go.

The total cost for the Ebola Orphanage is $30,000. Currently, Touch the Nations has raised nearly $12,000. Wouldn’t it be amazing to see our Wazziwoo family push this initiative even closer to their goal?

From April 1st through April 30th, 10% of every t-shirt sold will help build this orphanage.

There are a couple of ways you can help!

1. Buy Wazziwoo t-shirts for every little in your life and help fund the actual orphanage in Sierra Leone.

2. Help us spread the word! Post a link to this blog post and help get the word out that for the month of April 10% of proceeds will go to help fund Touch the Nations’ Ebola orphanage initiative.

Artist Spotlight: Wazziwoo//spunky kids clothing

unnamed-8

It's that time again!  The first Monday of the month, which means we are privileged to showcase amazing artists from all around.  This month, we are spotlighting Kevin & Lindsay of Wazziwoo. We know them on a personal level (and no we aren't related though we may as well be) and can't champion them and their new business venture enough.

We are so proud of them and their big dreams.

But enough of our sentimentality.

Take a look below, they have been so kind as to do a write up for us and give us some samples of their work.  They are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

My husband, Kevin, and I recently opened Wazziwoo, a fun, bold, spunky kids clothing and lifestyle line!

This whole crazy thing started with our own wee baby and a passion for unique, compelling art.

Together our backgrounds make a colorful mosaic of experiences — we’ve had our hands in everything from architecture to design to overseas missions to documentary photography and book-writing.

Together, we dreamed of collaborating our gifts to express our artistic hearts in a practical way. But we certainly had no idea where to start. Until our greatest inspiration came in the tiniest package…

Our son, Carsen Warner, was born in Cape Town, South Africa on our one-year anniversary. Shortly thereafter, in that same tiny one-bedroom apartment, the idea to create a kids clothing and lifestyle line was born. Although we were cramped in a tiny space, our dreams were big and full of light. And although those first months were tough, we knew that this project was going to be all about the newest little member of our family.

Fourteen months and a move back to the US later, Wazziwoo was launched in July 2014. We want to teach Carsen and other kids to DREAM BIG and to be brave enough to do it. We love the idea of paving the way to show Carsen that our love for him inspired this dream, and our desire to provide for him inspired the action.

So here we are — sink or swim.

We just hope your spirited, brave little ones have as much fun wearing our shirts as we had creating them.

Our printing process yields the softest feel and highest level of durability. Our shirts are American Apparel 100% Ring-Spun Combed Cotton, made in the good ol’ USA, and printed locally. Currently, our tees come in 2t, 4t, and 6t. But we are in the process of printing a brand new design in baby tees and a trucker hat!

Like I said, a huge part of our vision for this clothing & lifestyle line is to encourage kids to dream BIG and be brave enough to take the steps to make those dreams come true. So on each t-shirt you can find the message “Dream big little one” twice! It's printed on our custom-printed neck label as well as the Wazziwoo hem tag. Even though some littles might not be able to read it just yet, we love the idea of each one carrying a message of Life and Joy with him or her!

We also want to demonstrate to Carsen the act of giving. We are looking into how we could possibly give a portion of our proceeds to the adoption world through our baby tees.

Be sure to sign up for our Wazziwoo newsletter to get the inside scoop on all our recent and upcoming creations as well as fantastic giveaways of our products! You can follow us on Instagram and Twitter @wazziwoo, and Like us on our Facebook Page.

**We also sell our designs in 18”x24” wall prints!
