From the Intern Corner // Explore

So I was debating on what to share with y'all for my first official post and when I first arrived in Ontario, I spent the weekend with my good photographer friend, Brendan Serez.  We adventured up to Tobermory at the top of the Bruce Peninsula on a beautiful, sunny day.  It was the perfect time to pull out my brand new wide angle lens.

I've never had a wide angle before so it's been a real treat to experiment with it and create new and unique images.  Landscape photography is also not my forte' so it's been an interesting side project of testing it out and challenging myself in it.  Tobermory was such a great setting for it as well: clear, blue water, big cliffs, underwater caves, a sea of endless trees, etc.  I've been discovering just how incredible nature is over the last couple years and each new place I experience blows my mind more than the next!  I can't even begin to describe how much I'm enjoying the great outdoors.

Thought for the week: Find your inner adventurer and try new things! Get out and explore.  You won't be disappointed.

Without further adieu, in her own words:

I didn't grow up being creative. I remember distinctly think that my brother was the one who drew in the family.  I didn't want to copy him and I didn't think I was any good.  It later surprised me when I ended up getting my bachelors in advertising and graphic design with electives such as figure drawing and photography.  Over the last decade I have stuck mostly to layout design until recently something more creative began to stir.  Two years ago I did my first "doodle" and found it so relaxing.  I did a couple and then didn't think about it again.  Earlier in 2014, however, I realized that I hadn't jumped back into such creative things because I was surrounded by creative people who I felt far excelled me.  I didn't want to "copy" them so I just didn't do anything at all.  One day I was hanging out and I started seeing all these pictures of "zentangle" style drawings, which is what my art falls under, and when I asked God what they were, I felt like He told me to start drawing. So here i am drawing.  It's an adventure that I don't know how it will end up but oh! the joy in the journey!
