Great American Classics

This is a story about a girl; a girl not so very different from the one you just passed on the street without even noticing her.

Her birthday is in May, and she had her first kiss when she was 14 to a boy on her swim team.

Her childhood was marked with family dinners, camping in the summer, adventures with her brother and memories of standing on her Dad’s feet and giggling as he walked her from room to room.

She likes red balloons, roller coasters, hiking and swimming.

She loathes jazz music and clichés.

She watches documentaries on Friday nights, dances on the weekend and has a shockingly mediocre sense of fashion.

Oh, and she has been in love with Charlie since she was 16.

This is a story about a family, not so very different from the one you just sat by at the restaurant. You noticed them because they ignored each other for most the night.

No two of them have lived together under the same roof in the past decade.

They’ve had more fights than they’ve made new memories, more missed holidays than they’ve shared celebrations together.

They are each fiery in their own way and piled high with hurts.

This is a story about being lost and becoming even more lost.

A tale about second chances, about messes, about forgiveness.

This is a story strikingly dissimilar from your own, but perhaps in small ways, also entirely identical.

This is a picture of Lindsay and me and our darling Anne "back in the day" while we were still on a team together, traipsing about the wilds of Montana.

So many people have been asking Lindsay and me what our book's about and here it is. The *rough draft* of the back cover. You can imagine that editing the back cover is a teensy bit on the back burner for now so don't judge.

In fact, we've put the whole book on sabbatical for the entirety of June. Don't get us wrong-we love and miss writing. We especially miss our characters (despite the fact we text about them multiple times a day) but we were going a bit cross-eyed with the editing process.

To catch you up to speed:

1. our book is written

2. it has been edited and re-edited.

This means we still need

3.  another re-edit (and another and another)

then

we'll

be

fini!

We'll pick our pens back up in July, nose to the grindstone and all that. Our people have things to say, places to go and we can't wait to see where they land.

So let this tantalizing tease tide you over in the meantime.

You're welcome.

xo.

Happy Birthday to the Jono

Dear Jonathan,

You are wonderful. You have the biggest heart of anyone I know; you are good and kind and true. You are silly and sassy, hilarious and serving.

Life with you is an adventure, so full of spice.

I learn from you daily, I love you more too.

Thanks, thanks for being you.

You're The Best.

x.
