From The Intern Corner// Shooting Motion

Hello Friends! Taylor Writing! :)

I recently have been playing around with the idea of stop motion within photography. To me it is a very neat thing to capture because it gives off a cool effect of something or someone being frozen in time and can give a surreal affect by showing you something the human eye typically doesn't see.

To shoot movement you typically need a fast shutter speed because it will allow your main subject to become frozen. Doing this also will allow what ever your subject is doing to appear like it has been stopped in time whether that's jumping, running or anything in between.

There are three different kinds of motion i have been shooting:

1. Panning, which gives off the effect of the subject matter moving and the background being blurred.

2. Long Exposure, which can give off a cool effect for things like light streams, or make people appear ghost like.

3. Stop Motion, which is explained above as freezing motion.

Here are a few photos bellow of my attempt to shoot stop motion.

Saturdays are for Happiness

We are both introverts, which is an interesting conversation to have with people. Many don't believe us, because they confuse being introverted with being quiet or shy.

We are sometimes the first, but rarely the second.

My bigger point is that sometimes running our photo business brings an interesting dynamic to the table-we have chosen a profession that is loud and almost demands a social media presence.

What do being introverted vs. being extraverted and social media have to do with each other?

I suppose it's the energy that's required to put ourselves and our lives out into the world constantly. We don't have a perfect balance, but share a blend of our personal life + our professional lives. Either way, it's constantly dictates a certain level of communication, vulnerability, and realness. We could be fake, disingenuous, but that's not us.

If we're going to share, it's going to be raw.

When we give you an update, it's going to be more than surface deep.

And that is a big ask from people who would be okay with checking their social media once a week.

But to be completely honest, if we weren't running a media company, we'd probably not have Facebook, or Twitter, or a website, or a blog or, or, or.

It's fun to share our story with so many people, but it's interesting too. Sometimes I just don't want to open my phone to post something, so I don't. I've been posting less and less though we can't stay completely silent.

I'd rather live. Be outside. Be looking up and not looking down.

I'm grateful to live in an age where I can text Annie or Catherine at all hours of the day, where I can write a book with my friend and share a document online. It's a gift.

But life is a gift too, and I want to live it. So we'll keep our updates succinct for today.

Some highlights of the week:

1. Chris and Cait's engagement session (coming up on here tomorrow!)

2. We are having sushi tonight with friends for Jordan's birthday.

3. We had a slumber party with Alicia, Kevin and Colin last week. It's fun to use our spare bedroom and have long catch-ups.

4. My sister's roommate bought a plane ticket for ME to travel down to Atlanta for American Thanksgiving. It's my sister's Christmas gift. Try reading that 3x fast; it's not *quite* as confusing as it sounds. But I'm terribly excited.

5. We sent off our first wedding for out-of-house editing. This means that we send off photos for other people to colour-correct, straighten, etc.

Hypothetically it means we get our life back and we're pretty excited about it.

And now it's time to go make some new memories, so happy weekend, peeps. We
