From The Intern Corner / / Black Void

dancetimeWe’re going to have a raw moment here. Right now, you and me. As I have mentioned before in my first “From The Intern Corner”, I love makeup. It is my black void, or peaceful place (those two things sound so opposite but try to follow me here). I’m already an “artsy” person, so makeup to me is a kind of art, or a type of painting. It is “me” time. The point is, life in general is a little hectic, a little tough, and sometimes a bit of a downer. But life is really meant to be enjoyed, yeah? Well, when life gets a bit drab (aka like everyday), I love stopping time and taking my mind off everything that is practical and that is life. I have a few happy hobbies, but for today, makeup will be my example. I love taking a small part of my day and using it for myself, doing something that makes me content, relaxed, and not going to lie, kind of brain dead. Either getting ready in the morning, or late at night on YouTube, those few minutes of makeup and me make me rather hassle-free and quite blissful. Life then gets a tad more cheery, a smidgen brighter, and way more colorful. I want to encourage you to find that theoretical cup of Joe, the sunshine on your sheets, and the songbird to your summer. Whether its actually painting, reading, hiking, baking, working out, watching movies, mowing the lawn, writing, fixing machinery, listening to music, or swimming (or anything else under the sun), make a point to stop time throughout your day to go brain dead and do something that makes you enjoy life. Just as you should.

Feeding The Soul.

We value simplicity and enjoy a full life; we run from that thing called a busy life.

Sometimes this means saying "no" to really good things so we can have the great.

Sometimes this means saying "no" to things we want to do.

With as much as we work, it means having a lot of boundaries with a sometimes only a side of fun and the spontaneous.

But we value investing time in those things which feed our soul.

Like creative nights with some local crafters.

(I, Layne, especially feel the loss of not living with an entire gaggle of artists. From decades of living with my sister, to years in university, to traveling with a group of exceptionally artistic girls, my creative juices thrive when surrounded with creative dreamers.

Jonathan and I are just now finding how we can cultivate this in togetherness...)

We have found a fatty place for soul food in

recently implementing photo explorations into our married life.

Since we take photos for a living, it's easy for us to leave our camera by the wayside and not include it in the fun parts of our life.

But we've decided to adventure together into the unknown with our cameras.

And we have loved finding beauty in even the smallest of things.

So take a step back this week and look at all that is life-giving in your family. Go deeper in these places.

We don't regret it and we know you won't either. It will make all the difference.

So Enjoy this week. Enjoy this life.

Don't be so busy doing that you forget to live.

That's all.
